Beloved Identity

Acryl on Canvas, 120 x 150cm

Light plays a crucial role in establishing the atmosphere of this painting. While highlights draw the eye to the central subject, subtle dots in lighter tones, create a blurry
watery shimmer that adds a surreal and dreamlike quality. The artist conveys a vulnerable state of being, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the introspective symbolism of this prophetic artwork.

Pondering

"Even if worldly pressures and perceptions make you feel insecure and fragile – like a waterdrop that can fall and break at any moment… Know that feathers do not destroy waterdrops. To the contrary, My feathers are layered with a sanctifying oil (Exodus 30:29) to hold and heal and consecrate you until you find wholeness in the knowing that every fleck of your being is so deeply loved and infiltrated by Me that nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us."

Typically, before I embark on a prophetic painting, I seek clarity and understanding of the image that I am about to create. I wait for revelation of the meaning, allowing it to guide me in the creative process. This ensures that the artwork aligns with the intended message or word.

Beloved Identity took a different path. It was during a moment of prayer for someone dear to me, that a vivid image of a woman in a waterdrop amongst blue feathers came to mind. The vision persisted, and during a morning run, the sky was adorned with clouds that resembled feathers. Inspired by this ethereal display, I knew it was time to bring the image to life on canvas - even though I had not yet received the accompanying word.

The blue hue of the image was interesting to me, so I read about blue feathers and what I found, was quite remarkable:

“Red and yellow feathers get their color from actual pigments, called carotenoids, that are in the foods birds eat. Blue is different―no bird species can make blue from pigments. The color blue that we see on a bird is created by the way light waves interact with the feathers and their arrangement of protein molecules, called keratin. In other words, blue is a structural color. Different keratin structures reflect light in subtly different ways to produce different shades of what our eyes perceive as the color blue. A blue feather under ultraviolet light might look uniformly gray to human eyes.”

Only if light interacts with feathers, it can be perceived as blue. This corresponds to the way we see a blue sky or ocean. Similarly our identity in Christ can only be revealed when His light interacts with every fibre of our being.
This was the the word I felt the Holy Spirit whispered to me after the painting was completed:

My beloved child, I know you intimately (Galatians 4:9), I perceive every movement of your heart and soul and I understand your every thought before it even enters your mind. I formed your innermost being, shaping your delicate inside and your intricate outside and wove them all together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139)

To be in a place of intimacy, requires vulnerability and openness of heart. Intimacy may feel intimidating, yet your deepest insecurities are safe under the feathery covering of my perfect love (Psalm 91). For you see, I am Love...and Love covers all things. Love never stops loving (1 Corinthians 13), so I will never stop loving you.

So even if worldly pressures and perceptions make you feel insecure and fragile – like a waterdrop that can fall and break at any moment… Know that feathers do not destroy waterdrops. To the contrary, My feathers are layered with a sanctifying oil (Exodus 30:29) to hold and heal and consecrate you until you find wholeness in the knowing that every fleck of your being is so deeply loved and infiltrated by Me that nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us.
