Through the Eyes of a Child

Oil on Canvas 50 x 60 cm

The artist started off with an abstract brushed background, then added tonal depth by layering lighter or darker tints to the corresponding background color and brush direction, until the definition of a child’s face became visible, as if emerging from the background.

Pondering

"There is something profound in an expression of uncluttered innocence, it exudes a transmissible glory that changes the atmosphere. In an open-hearted eye to eye connection, a proclamation of unashamed trust abounds."

Through grace, we can perceive life through the faith-eyes of a child.
When my children look at me with a twinkle in the eye while a smile of extravagant and unrestrained joy curve their cheeks, it awakens an intense heartwarming sensation. There is something profound in an expression of uncluttered innocence, it exudes a transmissible glory that changes the atmosphere. In an open-hearted eye to eye connection, a proclamation of unashamed trust abounds.

As we grow older, the intricacies of humanity can layer our beings with regrets and shame, which tend to dim the twinkle in our eyes and make it difficult to trust unreservedly. Yet, we are invited into a circle of trust where grace abounds and love covers all inequities. When we accept that we are accepted just as we are, we can take off the heavy cloak of regret and shame and have room to spread our arms freely in unrestricted joy. It it time to emerge from the layers of our personal background in order to rediscover and reveal our inner childlike joy.

"Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts."
- Jeremiah 15:16
“Whoever continually humbles himself to become like this little child is the greatest one in heaven’s kingdom realm.”
- Matthew 18:3-4, TPT
