There are times when anxiety claws at your thoughts, threatening to drag you into a swirling downward stream. Life happens and it can be wildly intimidating, even to the strongest of heart. It is important not to be oblivious to our fears, to recognize it, but not be ruled by it. Sometimes we need to take an intentional leap into peace. There is tremendous power in speaking out the root of our anxieties to the Lord and also to proclaim His goodness. By doing so, we will realize that all fear dissolve in His presence.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7, NLT)

As we get into a habit of laying down our burdens at His feet, peace becomes a safe place of refuge we can leap into. It requires vulnerability and openness which does not come easily, but if we are intentional about it, the reward is peace that transcends all understanding.

Just before Jesus was arrested and crucified, he spoke these words to his disciples:

“In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world. [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]” (John 16:33, Amplified).
